I’ve never been this close to a cheetah before. For a few moments, I was wondering how cleverly the enclosure had been designed, as there didn’t seem to be much between us. Fortunately, something else seemed to hold the cheetah’s attention — a bird, I think. Later, I saw the cheetah run across its enclosure — so incredibly graceful. She then disappeared (all the cheetahs on exhibit at the Toronto zoo are female). Not so sure that she actually enjoys cold and while we did have sun, so perhaps it was great for her to stretch her legs and bask in the sun for a while, later in the afternoon, the chill started coming back, so I think it was time for her to go inside. Some of the animals I felt were in the situation that a lot of small children find themselves. Or at least used to find themselves. We used to be forced to go outside and play for a while, whether we wanted to or not.
