Water reflects the sky. When it’s blue, it can transform ripples into magic. A clear sky combined with early morning magic light made it seem as if the beaver were swimming in a painting. Both images were taken at roughly the same time of day and location, a day apart. The huge difference is the grey sky or blue sky, which affected the amount of light in the scene, the contrast, the warmth of the light and the colour being reflected by water’s surface. Cloudy days do have an advantage in that the world turns into a huge softbox, offering more even, softer lighting, as can be seen in the face of the beaver under the grey sky.
