Sunset stars

I’m rusty on my night exposures. Turns out that 30 seconds was too long, as shown by the streaked star and planets. Yep, I said planets. Some of you may be aware that Venus and Jupiter came very close together in the night sky and are now beginning to move away from each other again. The sailboat on the empty beach, with traces of sunset colours and the two planets in the sky, reflecting onto the wet sand were such a lovely sight that I stuck my camera on the tripod, batted away some mosquitos and took a few shots.  Unfortunately, the starry features moved during the exposure.  Been pondering fixing that, but for now, this is the shot. I needed to shorten the exposure and up my ISO, but before I could make adjustments, those clouds moved up and covered Jupiter. Shortly after, Venus also disappeared.

But wasn’t it a lovely sight? And how often have you seen planets shining onto ocean water?
