Sitting on a rock

My favourite seat: atop a granite cliff, waves crashing at my feet, breathing fresh Atlantic ocean air, watching the cormorants returning to roost for the night on huge rocky islands in the bay to my left and right, as the sun sets across the bay. On this evening, fog that had been sitting out on the ocean (to the left) is taking advantage of the cooling temperatures to move in overland. The sun disappeared behind the fog bank as it set, giving a gentle glow of colour before it was completely buried.

Because we had to return early, we missed spending time here this summer. Sadly.

For those interested in photography, having a long exposure of this scene would have flattened out the water for maybe a prettier photo, but something to consider is that even on a tripod, long exposures can be challenging if there is a strong wind.  If you are shooting for this, be sure to have your tripod extremely stable if you want a sharp image.
