Let’s set the scene. Dragonflies were amazing. I noticed a Green Darner clinging to a black-eyed Susan and sat down for a photoshoot. Then there were butterflies and a few more dragonflies, then it was time to head back home. I started walking towards the needed path, searching my camera bag for my iPhone as I walked, found it, pulled it out, checked for time and texts … and almost literally bumped into a doe with twin young ones! If it had been me watching the scene, I would have had to laugh helplessly. A photographer with a DSLR, walking into a photo op without seeing it and almost scaring it away.
Lighting was bad — very harsh. Deer kept moving and stuck primarily to the shade, making photography more difficult, though they allowed me to walk along with them for a while before they quietly slipped into the nearby woods again.
Such a very cool experience, especially in the city!
