I used to travel to California for work and one of my colleagues, and someone I now consider a dear friend, used to take me to his parents’ place about a couple of hours north of San Francisco. I always thought of it as a magical place.
This lizard scurried up a wall surrounding a courtyard that contained, among other things, a pomegranate tree! He’s a lot smaller than this photo indicates. I shot with my 70-300 mm lens with an extension tube, and the lizard was obliging enough to let me get close enough with it, as long as I moved slowly. Teleconverters bring subjects closer to the camera; extension tubes allow one to get closer to the subject.
