Sun and Hail

A conversation overheard while watching the Wood Ducks in High Park on Sunday:

Little girl: Mommy, something is wrong with that male duck.

Mom: It’s ok, it’s just another kind of duck.

Little girl: No, something is really wrong with it.  Look, there’s a ‘real’ duck (points to a mallard).

Sunday’s weather was crazy.  The precipitation seen in the above photo: hail! What was really odd was that this was followed by sun, then hail, then sun, then hail, then sun, then hail, with a little rain thrown in with the hail.  This fellow didn’t seem too phased, though a few dogs being walked in High Park seemed a little distressed about the solid rain.

There were a lot of people with cameras wandering the park, taking advantage of the flowering trees.  In between the hail sessions, scenes like the one below could be seen.

The weather didn’t deter the people fishing along the lake or just sitting enjoying each other’s company.

You can almost imagine that you’re not in the middle of a huge city. Well…if you can pretend that the roar of traffic was really loud waves.

A last look at the Wood Ducks, here a pair that are sitting on a gnarly tree limb poking up from the water, underneath a Weeping Willow.
