I was standing in hip-deep water when I took this! And my battery died shortly after this shot, just as the light on the water was getting really interesting.
We’ve had a lot of wind, so not a lot of calm water. This night, about an hour after high tide, I thought I’d take a walk, as the wind was calm, hoping that the water would start moving out sometime during my magic hour wade, so I could get some interesting heron shots with great water and colour. But…apparently the tipping point for the tide happens at least 2 hours later. I started out in knee-deep water, but soon was in much deeper as I walked to avoid rocks and seagrass that are around the first corner. Other than having to move my spare CF card to someplace safer than my soon-to-be-wet-with-salt-water pocket, it was actually a nice walk. The water was incredibly warm and walking through the water at sunset was like walking through an oil painting.
