Monochromatic — almost

We went for a drive along the Niagara wine route on Saturday. It proved to be a drab and grey day, though the rain held off until we were heading back to TO.  We were looking for more in the way of fall colours, but aside from some pockets of colour, it looked like we were at least a couple days ahead of the serious transition.

This is the waterfront at Niagara-on-the-lake, a town so picturesque and historical that you don’t mind too much that it’s a tourist-ridden destination. 😉  The monochromatic feel to this view grabbed my attention and the contrast of the brilliant colour on the one tree to the right seemed to make it more dramatic.

Across the water, you can see the American fort (there is a Canadian counterpart on this side of the water).

A closer look at that wind vane at the top of the gazebo (I thought black and white might suit it):
