How’s this for a view of a ladybug? It doesn’t look quite as friendly from this angle, does it? I have some other shots in which there are little bugs around it — aphids?
A friend of mine gave me an old Nikon macro lens. It’s completely manual, but fun to play with. You look at the world in a completely new way. I think I need focusing rails to help with setting shots up – it’s very tricky working with very shallow depths of field. I also want to start experimenting with focus stacking, which is combining images focused at different ranges that when combined, give a sharper image. It would have been cool to have more of this fellow in focus, but I was working with the light I had.
