Goldfinches are tricky little devils to get close to. This was taken in Prospect, on my friend’s deck, with me being very still, standing close to the bird feeders. After the initial flurry of departure when I first stepped outside, it only took one brave soul to think that new fixture on the deck might be safe to bring back a whole slew of birds. Fall migration had begun, so there were some very interesting varieties mixed with the more commonplace birds such as the goldfinch.
