Yes, the temperatures have been a little frosty. Cool enough for ice to again begin forming along the edge of the lake. Will it remain cold enough for it to build up to any amount? Who knows. Mother Nature has not been consistent around here.
It is lovely to see the sun and when one dresses for the weather, and at least one can dress for winter weather, cold isn’t really an issue. Well, except for cables. Had to do some taping of my shutter release cable, as the cold made it rather inflexible and it started to give at the bendy parts. The cable is rather necessary when shooting HDRIs, not only to help images be sharp, but to be able to step back while triggering the shutter, to avoid adding to visible shadows in the shot.
For those who care, this was shot as an HDRI, with 5 shots separated by 1EV, stitched in PTGui, with help from Stitcher and Photoshop to add in the down image. Since the nadir was hand held, the 5 down images weren’t aligned well enough to stitch as one and fixing it manually is just faster than trying to massage imperfect data. The VR itself was made with Pano2VR.
