Cup and Saucer Hiking Trail 360°

Click the image to be transported to two 360° vantage points.

Seventy meter cliffs, up to 12 km of hiking, the Cup and Saucer Hiking Trail on beautiful Manitoulin Island offers some spectacular views over a sea of trees and lakes, with distant signs of human habitation, mostly farms nestled into the surrounding landscape.  Hikers can choose their level of difficulty and hike duration, but the trail along the Niagara Escarpment can make one feel like he or she is on top of the world.  In the fall, this world explodes in a brilliance of outrageous colour.

For a sense of scale, here’s a photo with a person in it. Can you see the light green jacket?

We’ve been here just before peak colours and just after peak — we’ll time it right one year!

The top image was taken with a fisheye lens — 10.5mm — and if I had centred the horizon, it would be straight rather than bowed; however, I like the topsy turvy feel of the fisheye effect.  🙂

The image below was taken with an iPhone! So don’t let not owning a “nice” camera prevent you from taking some very nice photos.
