When is a negative a plus?

This olive baboon was just on the other side of very dirty plexiglass window with water dripping onto it. And, to boot, some idiots had scratched into the surface — the part of the surface behind which the baboon had decided to seat itself.  Bad photography situation?  Maybe.  But this is the age, after all, in which grunged-up images seem to be in vogue.  Who says the grunge needs to be added in after the fact?  So I focused, clicked and this is the shot.  I rather like the effect.

I did take a few others through areas of the glass that I was able to clean.  It was a very mild day, regardless of what the snow may be saying to you, and this was the first day these critters had been outdoors in weeks.
