You can see the beginnings of antlers on this young fella. You can also see signs of winter tick in that patch of bare skin on his shoulders. These ticks cause so much itching that moose will rub themselves until their skin is bare. The ticks fall of in the spring and the fur will regrow as the source of the itching and need to scratch goes away.
